In Sync Fitness congratulates Debbie Frol as our July Client of the Month!!

My name is Debbie Frol. I have trained at ISF for at least 6 years maybe longer. My goals have varied over the years. Initially I was interested in "fitness". I learned I really didn't understand what that meant. There was a huge disconnect between my brain and my body... the two were not in sync (oh..the klutzy stories Susie could tell!). I never quite understood the word "holistic" but today I feel I'm much more in tune with my physical and mental self as a single unit. It feels good.

Along the way, I've had several "aging" hiccups. The worst and most devastating was a bulging C-5 disc which earned the diagnosis of SURGERY (slit your throat and fix it from the front). Most of my In Sync buddies will tell you I don't own much vanity, however "slitting the throat" didn't seem like a great option. I just said "no" and worked hard with Susie and my physical therapist to slowly "fix" myself. It was a long and arduous process, a process that doesn't work for everyone. But I'm so glad that I chose this path as I was able to avoid surgery and along the way learn a lot about myself. It was so satisfying when I visited my neurologist who reported that my x-rays looked great. It was very empowering!! Susie's coaching was paramount to my success. Thank you!

Many people think when you work with a personal trainer; you are going to accomplish the following:

Become a size 0

Become a bodybuilder

Become a marathon runner

Have abs of steel

Not interested (to those of you who have these goals, go for it!). I feel good, feel strong and feel whole. I'm in a good place. Could I lose 15 lbs? So says my BioAnalogics body comp test. But is my body fat percentage lower that it's ever been? Do I have more muscle to do the things I enjoy in life? Yes, yes!! Now there's a win!

My most effective tip for success to achieve my health and fitness goals: Simple - stick with it, always through thick and thin! Think of it as lifestyle, not a stage. There's nothing magical about this....always a work in progress.

The best thing about ISF for me have been my workouts with Susie are oriented to my own personal, physical requirements (when I've needed a mental pick up, she seems to do that as well!) She pushes me like I could never push myself. She believes in me and my ability to succeed. I'm a klutz...she doesn't let me slack off. I "do it" correctly...maybe less reps with good form instead of more "cheater" reps.

ISF has benefited me through teaching me to commit to myself and a healthier lifestyle. My husband Steve and I have 20 acres that call out to us every day. It's an uphill battle, but we seem to make small gains overtime. I guess I'm the only person I know who likes yard work. When I'm not doing that, I love to cook, read, drink wine, bike and enjoy fun activities with friends and hang out with Steve and our two boys when they are home. As of this writing, I'm taking golf lessons. I'm still suspicious, but if I'm going to tackle the golf challenge, there's no better time than now. "Note to self"...Susie has a new piece of equipment that I know is going to help me with my golf swing. When I ski I keep up with Steve and the boys. I feel better and have greater stamina. I'm healthy and strong - not a bad place to be!
